Celtic Solstice Celebration 2008

Bloomington Parks and Recreation is proud to present the first of three Thursday special events on Thursday, June 19, 6-9 pm, at the Normandale Lake Bandshell, located at 5901 West 84th Street (84th Street and Chalet Road) in Bloomington.

Free and open to the public. Food will be available for purchase starting at 6 p.m.

Legacy will take the stage at 6:15 p.m. Legacy offers a balanced diet of songs (traditional pub, ballad, and contemporary styles) and dance tunes (traditional Celtic offerings as well as more stylized arrangements in the Celtic idiom).

The Doon Céilí Band will take over at 7:30 p.m. Since 2003, our goal has been to play some fine old traditional tunes that have been neglected in recent years. Most of our repertoire comes from an older generation of musicians in Ireland, with a solid foundation rooted in flute and fiddle.  

Parking can be found in the small 84th Street parking lot in between Normandale Blvd and Chalet Road or in the Chalet Road parking lot by turning south onto Chalet Road from 84th Street.
